What Is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)?

Emotionally Focused Therapy is best known as a cutting edge, well researched, tested and proven couple intervention developed by Dr. Sue Johnson and her team for the past 35 years. Today EFT is used in individual therapy addressing issues such as depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress (EFIT – Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy) and to repair family bonds in Emotionally Focused Family Therapy ((EFFT) If you are seeking a psychotherapist/counsellor for individual, couple or family therapy, you have come to the right place.

Individuals

Our Therapists provide psychotherapy services to individuals of all ages. Our group of experienced clinicians use well-established therapeutic approaches that have been shown to be effective, such as Psychodynamic, Experiential, Interpersonal, Relational, EMDR, CBT, MBCT, DBT, AEDP as well as Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT).

Couples

EFCT is a popular approach with an attachment focus that helps parters recognize that it less about what they fight about and more about how they fight that leads to feeling disconnected and alone.

Families

EFFT is an attachment based family therapy model that restructures negative interactions between parents and children in order to improve empathy and communication. The result is greater feelings of attachment and security in the family bond.

Hold Me Tight presents a streamlined version of EFT. It walks the reader through seven conversations that capture the defining moments in a love relationship and instructs how to shape these moments to create a secure and lasting bond. Case histories and exercises in each conversation bring the lessons of EFT to life.
